Production deburring lines are where a non-woven wide belt earns its price. On a 37-inch machine running a 75-inch belt, one of these 37" x 75" surface conditioning belts follows the coated head and, in the same pass, rounds the burr off every laser-cut edge, evens out the coated scratch and leaves a straight satin grain that looks the same on the first part of the shift and the last.
The belt is aluminum oxide grain held in a nylon web on a reinforced scrim backing that tolerates the tension and oscillation of an automated machine. We stock it in Coarse, Medium, Very Fine and Ultra Fine for stainless, aluminum, steel, titanium and other non-ferrous work, one belt per order.

Which grade should the deburring head carry?
On a two-head machine the coated belt sets the scratch and the non-woven belt sets the finish. Choose the non-woven grade by the finish the drawing calls for.
- Coarse (40-60 Grit), brown: aggressive cleaning and heavy deburring. It strips mill haze, light rust and oxidation from hot-rolled and pickled steel and takes a heavy dross line down on thicker plate. It removes real material when loaded, so run it at the lightest head setting that does the job.
- Medium (80-120 Grit), maroon: the everyday deburring grade for job shops. Behind a 120 grit coated belt it rolls the burr on stainless, mild steel and aluminum blanks and leaves a medium satin ready for paint or powder coat.
- Very Fine (180-240 Grit), blue: the #4-style graining grade for stainless. Run behind a 180–220 grit coated belt on sheet, blanks, sink decks and panel stock to produce a long, even grain that matches mill #4 material.
- Ultra Fine (320-400 Grit), grey: the fine-satin and pre-buff grade. It follows Very Fine on appliance fronts, aluminum trim and parts headed for buffing or anodizing. Ultra Fine refines; it does not remove scratches on its own.
Most 37-inch deburring machines are set up with a Medium belt for coated work and a Very Fine belt for stainless cosmetic work, with Coarse and Ultra Fine kept on the rack for specific jobs.

The rule is that the non-woven belt removes one step of scratch, not three. A blank that left the laser with a 60 grit coated pass needs 120 and 220 coated before Very Fine will give a clean #4-style grain.
Which machines take a 37" x 75" surface conditioning belt?

Length tolerance on most wide belt machines is about a quarter inch, so a 75-inch belt fits a machine specified at 75. The belt has no direction arrow; mount it either way, tension to the maker's setting, jog the machine and confirm the oscillation is centred before feeding. Set the non-woven head lighter than the coated head; the web makes full contact with less pressure and tears if overloaded. Metal swarf goes to a metal-rated or wet collector, never a wood-dust system.
How to get the most out of it
- Pair it with the right coated belt. Our 37" x 75" aluminum oxide and zirconia belts handle general work and our 37" x 75" metalworking belts in zirconia, ceramic and grinding-aid grains handle stainless and heavy steel. Take parts to 120 for Medium, 180–220 for Very Fine and Ultra Fine.
- Set pressure by the grain line, not by feel. Lower the head until the satin is continuous across the width and stop there. If the finish is faint, slow the conveyor before adding pressure.
- Deburr the dross side first. Laser and plasma leave the heavier burr on the underside. Run that face through, then the show face for the cosmetic pass.
- Fix the feed direction. Every part goes through long axis parallel to belt travel. On parts that will be bent afterwards, mark the grain direction so formed parts read the same on the finished assembly.
- Lubricate aluminum lightly. A mist or a wipe of grease stick stops aluminum smearing into the web; stainless and steel run dry.
- Skip the belt eraser. Crepe rubber pulls web fibres. Strong extraction is all a non-woven belt needs to stay clean.
- Hang the belt between jobs. Non-woven belts crease if folded and the crease prints through on the next sheet. Store on a wide dowel out of sun and humidity.

Does a 37" x 75" surface conditioning belt fit a Timesaver 37-inch machine?
A 37" x 75" belt fits 37-inch wide belt machines specified for a 75-inch belt, which includes Timesaver 37-class deburring and finishing machines. Confirm the length in your manual; most machines tolerate about a quarter inch. If your machine calls for 60 inches, order the 37" x 60" version instead.
Will the Coarse belt remove mill scale from hot-rolled steel?
It removes the haze and light scale left after pickling or after a coated pass, and it cleans light rust and oxidation. Heavy, intact mill scale on hot-rolled plate is a stock-removal job for a coated zirconia or ceramic belt; run that first, then the Coarse or Medium non-woven belt to blend and finish.
Which head should the non-woven belt go on in a multi-head machine?
The last head. The coated belt on the first head sets the scratch and does the deburring work; the 37" x 75" non-woven belt on the final head blends that scratch, rolls the burr and lays the grain. Putting the non-woven belt first wastes it, because the coated belt behind it removes the finish it made.
How do I keep the grain direction consistent on parts that get bent later?
Deburr and grain the flat blank with its long axis parallel to belt travel, then mark the grain direction on the protective film or with a paint pen before forming. When the formed parts are assembled, orient them so the grain runs the same way on every visible face. Regraining after bending is rarely possible on a wide belt.
Can I use Ultra Fine as the last step before clear coat or anodizing on aluminum?
Yes. Ultra Fine (320-400 Grit) run after Very Fine gives aluminum a fine, even satin with no visible scratch lines, which anodizes and clear coats evenly. Use a light lubricant so the aluminum does not smear into the web, and clean the parts thoroughly afterwards so no residue reaches the tank or the spray booth.
Is the belt sold singly, and can I get a grade set at a quantity price?
