MATCH THE BELT TO THE WORK

Use one belt size for stock removal through finish preparation

Start by confirming the machine requires a 6-inch × 48-inch belt. Then choose a grain and grit for the work material, starting surface, pressure, and finish target.

DECISION GUIDE

Which 6" x 48" belt material should you choose?

The product record offers three abrasive families. Use the least aggressive option that will do the work and confirm the process for the material.

GENERAL-PURPOSE RANGE

Aluminum oxide

The broadest range on this page, with 36–400 grit choices for wood, general fabrication, and progressive finishing.

HEAVIER METAL REMOVAL

Zirconia

Coarse and medium choices for heavier stock removal on compatible metalworking processes.

HARD-METAL CUTTING

Ceramic

Coarse and medium choices positioned for demanding removal on steel or stainless when the machine and process are appropriate.

HOW TO USE IT

Install, track, and test the belt before sanding

Follow the belt-sander manual and workplace procedures for every installation.

  1. 01

Disconnect power and confirm the sander requires a 6-inch × 48-inch belt.

  2. 02

Inspect the belt backing, edges, abrasive surface, and joint; do not install a damaged belt.

  3. 03

Follow any directional marking, then tension and track the belt according to the machine manual.

  4. 04

Run the belt without contacting the workpiece and verify stable tracking and clearance.

  5. 05

Begin with controlled pressure and dust or spark collection appropriate to the material.

Use the guarding, extraction or collection, personal protective equipment, training, and operating procedures required by the machine, abrasive product, work material, and workplace.

Use it for

  • Compatible 6-inch × 48-inch belt sanders
  • Wood stock removal, leveling, and finish preparation
  • Metal grinding and blending with the matched abrasive
  • Edge sanding, beveling, and flat-surface work
  • Progressive sanding through available grit stages

Do not use it for

  • A machine requiring another belt size
  • A belt with a damaged edge, backing, or joint
  • An abrasive or grit not validated for the work material
  • Operation without required guards and collection
  • Wet use unless the belt, machine, and process are all approved

PRODUCT FAQ

Questions before you choose?

What comes in a 6-inch x 48-inch belt order?

Each selected variant is a two-pack. Both belts use the material and grit shown in the live selector.

Which abrasive material should I choose?

Aluminum oxide has the broadest grit range and is the general-purpose choice. Zirconia and ceramic are offered in coarser ranges for heavier removal. Match the grain to the work material and process.

Which grit should I start with?

Use 36–60 grit for heavy removal, 80–120 for leveling and blending, 150–220 for finish preparation, and 320–400 for finer refinement. Start with the least aggressive grit that will do the work.

Can these belts run in either direction?

The existing product record describes a bidirectional butt joint. Follow any directional marking on the delivered belt and the machine manual if either specifies a running direction.

Will these belts fit every 6-inch belt sander?

Fit requires both 6-inch width and 48-inch belt length. Confirm both dimensions and any joint, backing, speed, or direction requirements in the machine manual.

What are the shipping and return terms?

Shipping methods, rates, and delivery estimates depend on the order and destination and are shown at checkout. The return policy provides a 30-day window for eligible unused items in original condition and packaging. Restrictions and return-shipping costs apply.
